What is Tax Ready?
Tax Ready is your personal expense tracker that makes tax preparation stress-free. Simply snap a photo of your receipt, add the expense, and you're done. When tax season arrives, export everything in minutes—organized, complete, and ready for your accountant or tax return.
Who is Tax Ready for?
Tax Ready is perfect for freelancers and contractors tracking business expenses, employees claiming work-related deductions, small business owners managing daily costs, and anyone who dreads organizing receipts.
How do I add an expense?
Simply tap the "+" button, take a photo of your receipt (or import from your photo library), enter the amount, date, and category, and save. You can add multiple receipt attachments per expense and include notes for important details.
What is an Evidence Pack?
An Evidence Pack is a complete export of all your expenses and receipts in one ZIP file. It includes all receipts properly named and organized, a CSV spreadsheet of all expenses, and an optional PDF summary report. It's ready to send to your accountant or tax authorities. This is a Pro feature.
What is the Inbox?
The Inbox shows you which expenses need attention—like missing receipts or incomplete details. It helps you track your audit-readiness score so you know exactly what's complete and what needs work.
Can I customize categories?
Yes! Tax Ready comes with common categories like Meals, Travel, Office Supplies, Equipment, etc. You can also create custom categories for your specific situation.
Does Tax Ready work offline?
Yes! All your data is stored locally on your device. You can add expenses and take photos without an internet connection. Pro users can optionally enable iCloud sync to access data across devices.
Where is my data stored?
All your expense data and receipts are stored locally on your device. Pro users can optionally enable iCloud sync, which stores data in your personal iCloud account through Apple's secure servers. We never see or access your data.
What's the difference between free and Pro?
Free version: 3 expenses per week, 1 attachment per expense.
Pro features: Unlimited expenses, unlimited receipt attachments, iCloud sync across all devices, Evidence Pack export, priority support. Pro is available as a subscription or lifetime purchase.
Can I track partially deductible expenses?
Yes! You can mark expenses with a deductible percentage (50%, 100%, etc.) if you use something for both business and personal purposes.
Can I track personal and business expenses separately?
Yes! Use different categories to separate them, or mark business expenses with 100% deductible and personal expenses with 0% deductible. You can filter and export by category.
Can Tax Ready file my taxes?
No. Tax Ready tracks and organizes your expenses, but it doesn't do your taxes or give tax advice. It gives you the organized records that make doing taxes (or working with an accountant) much easier.
What if I lose my phone?
If you're using iCloud sync (Pro feature), all your data is backed up and will sync to your new device when you sign in. If you're on the free tier, make sure to back up your phone regularly through iTunes or iCloud backup.
Is my financial data private?
Yes. Everything stays on your device. iCloud sync is optional and goes through Apple's secure servers, not ours. We don't see, access, or store your expense data. No third parties, no tracking, no analytics.
How do I export my expenses?
Pro users can tap "Export Evidence Pack" to create a complete ZIP file with all expenses, receipts, and a summary report. You can save it to Files, iCloud Drive, or share via email.
Can I attach multiple receipts to one expense?
Yes! Pro users can attach multiple photos, PDFs, and documents to each expense. Free users get 1 attachment per expense.
