Privacy Policy for Break The Bet

Last updated: February 4, 2026

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Break The Bet respects your privacy and gives you absolute control over your recovery data.

We believe your gambling recovery journey should remain completely private and under your control. Break The Bet was designed with privacy-first principles—all your personal recovery data stays on your device, with no accounts required. You have the choice to optionally share anonymized usage data to help us improve the app, but this is entirely optional and can be controlled in Settings.

What This Means for You

  • All Data Stays Local: Urges, gambling sessions, triggers, amounts, notes—everything is stored on your device only.
  • No Accounts Required: No sign-up, no login, no email, no personal information collected ever.
  • Optional Anonymized Analytics: You can choose to share anonymized usage data to help improve the app. This is disabled by default and can be toggled in Settings.
  • Fully Offline: The app works completely offline. Internet only needed for calling support helplines.
  • Developer Can't See Your Data: We literally cannot access your information—it never leaves your device.

Data Collection

Local Data - Always Stored on Your Device

Break The Bet stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Urge entries (intensity, triggers, location, time, notes)
  • Gambling session entries (amount, win/loss, type, platform, time, notes)
  • App settings and preferences you configure
  • Notification preferences if you enable them

Optional Anonymized Analytics - Your Choice

If you choose to enable analytics sharing in Settings, we may collect anonymized usage data such as:

  • App feature usage patterns (which screens are viewed, which features are used)
  • General app performance metrics (crash reports, loading times)
  • Device type and OS version (to optimize compatibility)
  • Aggregated statistics (e.g., average/total number of urges logged per week across all users)

Important: This data is completely anonymized and cannot be traced back to you.

Analytics sharing is disabled by default. You can enable or disable it anytime in Settings → Privacy → Share Analytics.

We NEVER collect:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
  • Your actual urge entries, gambling amounts, or recovery notes
  • Financial account information or payment details
  • Precise location data or contacts
  • Any data that could identify you personally

Your Data, Your Control

You maintain absolute control over your recovery data and privacy preferences:

  • Delete individual entries by swiping left in History
  • Delete all data via Settings → Delete All Data
  • Enable or disable anonymized analytics sharing via Settings → Privacy → Share Analytics
  • Uninstall the app to permanently remove all local data
  • No cloud backups of your personal recovery data, no server copies, no recovery possible (by design)
  • Your personal recovery data belongs only to you—no one else can access it

Third-Party Services

Break The Bet integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Apple StoreKit: Used only for optional tip purchases. No purchase data is collected by us.
  • Telephone URLs: When you tap a support helpline number, iOS opens your phone app to call—we don't track these calls.
  • Analytics Platform (Optional): If you enable analytics sharing in Settings, anonymized usage data is sent to our analytics provider to help improve the app. This is disabled by default and can be toggled at any time.

We do not use advertising networks or social media integrations.

Notifications

Break The Bet includes optional daily check-in reminders. These notifications are generated entirely locally on your device and do not involve any external servers or services. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through Settings → Notifications or iOS Settings.

Siri & Shortcuts Privacy

When you use Siri to log urges or gambling sessions, all processing happens on-device. Apple does not receive information about your gambling activities or recovery. Siri shortcuts are a local iOS feature that interacts directly with the app on your device.

Changes to This Policy

Any changes to this privacy policy will be updated on this page. However, our core commitment to absolute privacy and zero data collection will never change. Break The Bet will always keep your data local and private.
