Break The Bet Support

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data private?

Absolutely. Break The Bet stores all your personal recovery data (urges, gambling amounts, notes) locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to servers or shared with anyone. No accounts required. You can optionally choose to share anonymized usage data to help improve the app—this is disabled by default and can be controlled in Settings → Privacy → Share Analytics. Your privacy is fully protected and under your control.

How do I use Siri to log urges or gambling?

Simply say "Hey Siri, log an urge" or "Hey Siri, log a gamble". Siri will ask for intensity (for urges) or amount and win/loss (for gambling). The entry is created instantly and you can add details later from the Inbox.

What are triggers and why track them?

Triggers are events or feelings that cause gambling urges (like stress, boredom, payday, sports events). Tracking them helps you identify patterns so you can prepare for high-risk situations and build better coping strategies.

Can I export my data?

Not yet, but data export (CSV/PDF reports) is a planned feature for a future update.

How do I access gambling support helplines?

Tap the heart button (❤️) on the Dashboard or go to Settings → Gambling Support Services. You'll find helplines from multiple countries that you can call directly. They're confidential, free, and available 24/7.

Does this app replace therapy or professional help?

No. Break The Bet is a companion tool to support your recovery journey. Professional help from therapists, counselors, or support groups is invaluable and highly recommended alongside using the app.

What if I gamble after logging an urge?

That's okay—recovery isn't linear. Log both the urge and the gambling session honestly. The app is judgment-free. Every moment of awareness is progress, even if you don't resist the urge that time.

What's the Inbox tab for?

When you use Siri shortcuts or quick log features, entries may be incomplete (missing triggers, gambling type, etc.). The Inbox shows these entries so you can add the missing details when convenient.

How do the radar charts work?

The 24-hour radar charts on the Dashboard show when urges or gambling sessions occur during the day. Think of it like a clock—12am is at the top, 6am on the right, 12pm at the bottom, 6pm on the left. The further from the center, the higher the frequency or intensity.

What data does the app collect?

Your personal recovery data (urges, gambling sessions, notes) is stored locally on your device and never leaves your device. If you enable analytics sharing in Settings (disabled by default), we collect only anonymized usage data like which features are used and app performance metrics—never your actual recovery data or any personally identifiable information. You have full control and can toggle this on or off anytime in Settings → Privacy → Share Analytics.

Is the app really free?

Yes, 100% free with no paywalls or locked features. There's an optional tip jar if you want to support continued development, but all features remain accessible to everyone forever.
